We have received a courteous and engaging letter from
Danny Alexander the Chief Secretary to the Treasury regarding the economic
evidence from the
NIESR Report we
presented to him and his officials at the end of 2012.
This report quite clearly shows the impact of cutting
Fuel Duty by 3p. If instead of raising fuel duty the government were to
introduce this cut in tax

This is very welcome news. During a recent 6 year period living in France,I was struck by the fact that although fuel prices rose and fell with the oil market, diesel was always cheaper than petrol and supermarket prices were always much lower than filling stations. It all seemed much more sensible!

Just thiink how many jobs could be created with a 20 pence cut, especially on diesel

This is a chance for the government to prove they have the interests of the people and the UK at heart.
Keep up the good work, and thank you for all you have done so far.

Has any work been done on the possibility of making Britain the cheapest place in Europe for fuel, Diesel in particular ?
Currently European trucks (ab !)use our roads for free and don't need to buy fuel as they come inwith large long-range tanks fully laden with cheap European fuel.
If we had the cheapest fuel would it a) help our own transport industry and b) put some European transport money into treasury coffers where now it gets nothing ?

There should be a tax limit on any commodity , be it fuel, beer, wine, etc. I think 10% would seem fair but as long as Cameron and Co. fund illegal overseas wars, hanging onto the Americans coat tails, while juggling with the European Union, there will be NO solution.
