FairFuelUK has asked the new Chancellor and his Treasury Ministers to go further and be bolder than his predecessor at No 11. He needs to act positively on what all economists agree, that lower vehicle fuel costs are indeed a huge boost to the UK’s economy.

We delivered by hand to the Treasury and to the Prime Minister’s Office a letter explaining FairFuelUK’s evidence based campaign demands of the new Chancellor are as follows:

  • Cut Fuel duty on all fuels by 3p to match, more closely those of other developed nations

  • Cut VAT on all fuels to 15% - to soften ...

After running Fringe Events at all three major Party Conferences, it’s clear that Politicians are completely out of touch with Road User needs. They were hugely disrespectful by not embracing a debate of cutting fuel duty for growth. They simply did not turn up, probably because it was at 8am in the morning after a night of partying. Only Tessa Munt of the Lib Dems and Tory Andrew Bingham took part. Both are hugely supportive. Frankly many MPs (Not all of them though such as Philip Davies, Jason McCartney, Steve Baker, Tessa Munt, Rob Flello, Martin Vickers, Robert Halfon and a few others) are ignorant ...

We are holding a similar Fringe Event in Birmingham at the Conservative Party Conference on Monday 29th September, as we did at the previous week's Labour political bash. We were treated with scant disregard at that one. Read that review at http://www.fairfueluk.com/quentins_blog.php?entry_id=1411477199  Hopefully the Tory faithful will listen to our question "Are 32m UK Road Users (Voters) getting a fair deal from successive Governments?" And we will be giving out our open letter (see below) calling for support of the campaign's core objectives. Watch this space for the review next week..

I took the FairFuelUK challenge directly to a Government Minister at this week's Conservative Conference. I stated that a cut in fuel duty is the most obvious, direct and effective means of boosting the economy and creating jobs whilst not threatening the Government's necessary deficit reduction plan. The exchange took place at a fringe meeting between me and Theresa Villiers, Minister for Transport at the Conservative Party Conference.

I put this plain and simple message to the Minister

Quentin Willson, leader of FairFuelUK is calling on the Government to investigate why petrol and diesel pump prices have barely come down when Oil prices have plummeted in recent weeks. Mr Willson said, ‘The moment that Oil prices go up, the pump price rockets! When the Oil price falls, the prices stay the same. Why? People are confused and frustrated by this situation. I am calling on the Government to work out what is happening
